My largest book painting to date at 50×100″ it was an absolute joy to paint 🙂

I have been avoiding getting on with a promised sketch of the house of an old family friend, but last week knuckled down to it and really enjoyed doing something different.

A great weekend of Open Studios was had at Northlight Art Studios last weekend, and now we have ANOTHER ONE!!!
We are open Friday 4th July and Saturday 5th July from 11am til 5pm. We won’t be open on Sunday however, as there will be a few other distractions passing through Hebden Bridge on wheels…..022028031033027025024

Meet the artist: Roo Waterhouse

Saturday, 3 May, 2014 – 12:00 to 14:00
Come and meet Roo Waterhouse; we’re currently showing her exhibition The Comfort of Things at The Town Hall.
Roo’s paintings are inspired by household objects which she depicts in situ, often larger than life.  She loves to paint using oils – the traditional medium of reverential portraiture.  Her paintings observe and appreciate our relationships with the often unnoticed familiar objects in our everyday surroundings; exploring how they can hold onto the stories of our lives, becoming links to past times.

SHELFIES – the new selfies!

Above is the ‘Shelfie’ I painted for authors Carl Honore and Miranda France. These are the books that are special in their lives together.

Both the painting and the idea of a ‘Shelfie’ have been so popular that I thought it was time to market the idea more widely!!

Prices start from £195 for a standard 10″x12″ (about 8-10 books), £295 for 10″x20″, £325 for 12″x24″ (about 18-20 books) with a range in between!
